“I have been volunteering with Inspire for 11 years, having been introduced to their work at a promotional event. I support the operational team as a Volunteer Receptionist and also act as Minutes Secretary to the Board of Trustees. I am able to use my skills and experience to support the day to day and more strategic work of the charity; hopefully enabling the team members to do their jobs more easily. I enjoy being a calming, welcoming and familiar face to clients as they arrive for their counselling sessions and recognise that this is an important part of my role. I would encourage anyone who is thinking of volunteering to ‘just do it’; you will gain more than you give!”

“I was invited to join Inspire as Treasurer whilst I was completing my accountancy training. Through my involvement I have been able to contribute my experience and expertise to this worthwhile cause, and have been able to build on my own knowledge and skills in doing so. I know that I am contributing to something much bigger than just providing financial information; I am helping the operational team and Trustees make strategic decisions about how to best use available funds and resources, in order that it can fulfil its mission. I love being able to provide the insights and information which help steer the direction of the charity. My role requires me to work effectively with different team members; I am aware that I am contributing to their individual professional growth and development too which is really encouraging and satisfying for me”.

"I really appreciated being offered a placement at Inspire when I was studying for my Diploma in Counselling in 2006. I loved the idea that this was a Christian run organisation and prayer was and is at the heart of all we do. It never crossed my mind to leave, I have stayed with Inspire as a volunteer since qualifying in 2008. I feel part of a family here and we benefit from a strong, compassionate and fair Manager, Karen, who cares deeply for our clients and ourselves equally. We have a dedicated Board of Trustees who work tirelessly in the background.
